Summer bees and lemon cake

How I love the hum of bumble bees in my wee garden, a glorious sound evoking summers past. I have a large honeysuckle bush which is currently festooned with flowers, and is providing an ample feast for buzzy visitors. It’s such a delight to watch them too. Seems I am having a mild love affair with bumble bees!

Fans of Gardeners’ World will know that Monty Don’s adorable dog, Nigel, has a starring role in the programme. Monty has written a book called’Nigel My family and other dogs’. Grateful I borrowed it from the library, it is a very pleasant, and sometimes very touching, read.
